1.5-inch x 1.0-inch slice of Gibeon Meteorite on a 1.25 inch metal key ring.

Gibeon Meteorite Slice on a Key Ring - Large

We serve up outer space by the slice! A 1.5-inch x 1.0-inch slice of a Gibeon meteorite, that is! After we got our paws on this 4-billion-year old meteorite, we sliced it, diced it, and poured some delicious sauce (acid) on it to bring out the Widmanstätten pattern. It is a set of car keys that they won't want to lose!

Fully assembled on a key ring and ready to be sold in your gift shop or store! See our smaller version too!

Gibeon Meteorite History: Collision with earth is estimated to be 200-400 million years ago in the Gibeon area of Namibia, Africa during prehistoric times. Found in 1836 by a British explorer, Captain J.E. Alexander, although natives were familiar with these "metal rocks" for hundreds of years. Estimated, by radiometric dating, to be 4 billion years old and thought to be debris from an exploding super nova.

  • Nickel-Iron Meteorite
  • Sliced and etched with acid to show the Widmanstätten pattern
  • Resistant to rust due to tight fitting crystals, lack of inclusions, and high nickel content
